Two garment factory workers escape their daily drudgery into a world of fantasy where shirtwaists become kites, fans transform into seagulls, hatboxes are rides, spools of thread are anchors and ropes are the ocean tide. This fun piece incorporates multiple performance styles: object theater, shadow and figurative puppets, and stylized movement. Using silent film as a metaphor, it is performed without text, with a rich soundscape of period songs, ocean ambience, industrial sounds and amusement park rides underscore the scenes.
