Receipient of 2020 Janklow Award, Arts Connection

Thousands of kids through out New York City know me as the “puppet lady”. As an arts educator and consultant I love to bring in the fun – infusing and invigorating literacy, social studies and science curriculum with puppetry and theatrical stories. In addition to integrating into classroom curriculum, my core beliefs of collaboration and visual storytelling are an integral part of my work with children. I guide students in their own artistic choice-making, and allow them to discover their unique voice throughout the design, rehearsal and performance process.

Students engage in creative play to discover stories using games, improvisation, storytelling, playwriting and physical and vocal characterizations.

In 2020 I was the proud recipient of Arts Connection’s Janklow Award.

Special correspondent John Tulenko looks at some charter schools that institute real world applications into lesson plans and emphasize the importance of improvement over intelligence. The schools are less interested in testing but rather making sure students have the life skills they need once they leave the classroom.
